Garnand Fine Furniture announces closing after 116 years
Family expresses gratitude to generations of customers, employees and industry partners as going-out-of-business sale begins
GARDEN CITY, Kan. (October 22, 2026) — After 116 years of serving the Garden City community and customers far beyond it, Garnand Fine Furniture has made the difficult decision to close.
The decision comes after much consideration and marks the end of a truly remarkable chapter — one made possible by the loyalty, friendship and trust generations of customers have placed in Garnand Fine Furniture over more than a century.
The legacy of Garnand Fine Furniture has always been about much more than selling furniture. Dennis and Patricia Norris bought the company in 1978 and dedicated their lives to building a business centered around hard work, integrity, and a genuine desire to help people create beautiful, functional homes.
Together with their three children – Renee Longpine, Rene Norris, and Ramona James and her husband, Robert James – the family helped expand the operation to five stores in Kansas and one in Nebraska. Throughout that growth, the same values remained at the heart of the business: treating people honestly, standing behind the products they sold and taking care of their customers.
Dennis was highly respected within the furniture industry and served on the board of the National Home Furnishings Association.
The Norris family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many people who made 116 years possible. While this chapter is closing, the friendships, memories and relationships created along the way will always remain.
